Ricky Martin launches Website for
"People for Children"
Ricky Martin needs your help in bringing
color to the life of a child
Miami, FL – March 2, 2004 – Ricky Martin, known worldwide for his excellence as an artist in addition to his philanthropic work, launches TODAY a website to help in his fight against the exploitation of children, in conjunction with a series of international television campaigns.
As part of his efforts, the Puerto Rican singer established People for Children, an organization that works against the exploitation of children. The project funds programs which monitor and combat a range of problems relating to the exploitation of children, with a focus on sex trafficking. The organization is also active monitoring and combating areas including debt labor, forced labor, modern day slavery, and forced prostitution of children. People for Children actively promotes and supports the redemption of exploited children as well as children vulnerable to sex trafficking, and the project provides assistance to the victims and their families.
The goal of this ambitious project is to syndicate public service announcements, which help to fund programs geared towards the elimination of sex trafficking, debt bondage, forced labor, and sex slavery with a global campaign to combat and monitor the problem of trafficking in persons and, through the dissemination of relevant and timely information, to influence policy and practice in the war against the commercial exploitation of children.
People for Children is a project of the Ricky Martin Foundation located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In the past, this foundation has instituted its own program of music in schools in Puerto Rico, for which they have purchased millions of dollars in instruments for the use of music programs in public schools.

Ricky Martin necesita tu ayuda

MEDIA RELEASE @ 16/07/03
AUSTRALIAN FAN CLUBS HELPING PEOPLE FOR CHILDREN
To coincide with Ricky Martin’s weeklong promotional tour of Australia, the artist’s Australian-based Fan Clubs, the Official Ricky Martin Australian Fan Club (RMAFC), Australian Friends of Ricky Martin (AFRM) and Ricky Martin United Fans Australia (RMUFA), will be raising funds for the Puerto Rico-based "Ricky Martin Foundation" project, "People For Children".
The Ricky Martin Foundation is a non-profit organisation that helps a wide range of mostly children-focused institutions and projects. The foundation’s humanitarian work won Ricky the "Billboard Spirit of Hope Award" last year. People For Children’s key objective is to not only create awareness of the issues surrounding the exploitation of children, but also to fight child pornography and prostitution worldwide through educational efforts and charitable contributions.
According to Jennifer Naranjo of RickyMartinMusic.com, "the fan clubs in Australia have always been very supportive of Ricky’s charitable endeavours. We’re excited that they’ve all agreed to help in making the Australian public more aware of this worldwide problem. This is truly a worthy cause." During the next two weeks the fan clubs will be collecting used mobile phones for recycling. Each mobile phone will raise $1 for the benefit of People For Children.
The goal of People for Children is to syndicate public service announcements, which help to fund programs geared toward the elimination of sex trafficking, debt bondage, forced labor, and sex slavery with a global campaign to combat and monitor the problem of trafficking in persons. The organisation carries this out via the dissemination of relevant and timely information, and influencing policy and practice in the war against the commercial exploitation of children.
